As AI facilitates the creation of increasingly human -acting bots, X Elon Musk’s is developing a new feature that will expose more information about users behind an X profile in an effort to help people better understand who speaks on the platform.

According to one new post From the head of the product of Nikita Bier of X, the social network will begin to experiment with the appearance of more information about user profiles, including details such as the date created the account, its location, the number of user name changes and how it uses its service.

When reading content in x, you need to be able to verify its authenticity. This is crucial to get a pulse on important issues that occur in the world.

– Nikita Bier (@nikitabier) 14 October 2025

The idea is that by exposing some of these details, users will be able to make a more documented decision on whether one works an authentic account or if it is probably a bot or a bad actor trying to sow misinformation.

For example, if the account resume claims to be based in a US state, but their account information shows that it is based abroad, you may suspect that the account has another agenda.

Similarly, if it shows that they have downloaded X application to an international app store, but pretending to be from the US, you can also question their legality. (This does not mean that one could not start an account elsewhere and then transfer to the US, but it is a signal that could be combined with others – such as multi -name changes, perhaps – that could increase red flags.)

Bier said X would start first testing the feature on some of the X -profile X next week to receive feedback before unfolding it wider. He also noted in a response to a question about the privacy of users that people could leave the appearance of this information. However, he pointed out: “If a user shaped [the privacy toggles]This will probably be marked in their profile. ”

He also faced concerns about exposing human position, as there are some areas where reason could have sanctions, saying that X can replace the country’s region in these cases.

The idea of displaying more information about a social media account to help users understand who may be involved in social media is not new. In a recent interview with Bloomberg’s promotion conference, for example, Instagram leader Adam Mosseri said that users in the application and video exchange and videos today could visit someone’s profile and see a similar set of information.

“Today, if you go to my profile, you can go to” For this profile “, and you can see how long I have had this profile, in which country based country, how many times have I changed my username – a series of signals you can use to decide how much you want to trust or not trust”

Changes to X, if publicly circulated, could help deal with problems about confidence to some extent, although scammers and spammers often have effective ways to work around exposure efforts.

The news follows a recent Bot clearing in x, where the company Removed 1.7 million bots Participation in reply spam.
