Anthropic has begun to develop a “vocal function” for Claude Chatbot applications.
Voice feature (in Beta for now) allows Claude Mobile App users to have “complete talks with Claude” and will arrive in English in the coming weeks, according to Anthropic’s Official Account on x and Updated documentation on the company’s website.
At least A user in x Reports have gained access to voice mode late Tuesday. By default, it is powered by Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4 model.
“Voice function … gives you the opportunity to talk to Claude and listen to answers through voice, facilitating Claude’s use when your hands are busy but your mind is not,” reads one support page. “Voice function converts the way in interacting with Claude from… displaying key points on the screen as Claude speaks [and] allowing you to talk to Claude and listen to Claude’s voice answers. ”
Some AI companies, including Openai, offer vocal conversation experiences for their respective chatbots. Google, for example, has live Gemini, while XAI has a vocal function for Grok. Everyone allows users to interact with bots by talking instead of typing, making conversations feel more natural and intuitive.
With the taste of anthropic function, users can chat about things such as documents and images and choose from five separate voice options. Users can also alternate between text and voice in flight and see a copy and after -conversation.
The ability has certain limits. Voice conversations count on regular use of use-Anthropic says that 20-30 conversations are what most free users can expect. In addition, only paid CLAUDE subscribers can benefit from a Google Workplace link that allows the voice function to access Google Calendar appointments and Gmail emails (the integration of DOCs Google is exclusive for Claude Enterprise designs).
Humanity CPO Mike Krieger confirmed that the company was working for voice capabilities for Claude in an interview with the Financial Times in early March. According to the report, Anthropic held talks with Amazon, the company’s main investor and partner, and the start of AI AI, to potentially lead future voice features for Claude.
It is not clear which of these collaborations, if any, came into fruit.
