Google’s assistant AI, Gemini, comes to your TV. On Monday, the company announced Provides Gemini for Google TV, allowing TV owners to participate in free flows, natural language conversations with AI.
When it is fully unfolded, this extension of Gemini to a new platform will bring Google’s AI to over 300 million active Google tv and other Android TV OS devices.
In terms of television -related questions, Google suggests that Gemini AI could be used to help people with different interests to settle into something to watch that they would both like or to catch you in what you lost in a previous era of a favorite show. You could also take Gemini to help you find a movie or show when you can’t remember the title or ask about the reviews of a title to help determine if it’s worth watching.
However, because they are Gemini, you can also ask any other kind of question, as you could with AI Chatbot on your smartphone.
For example, children and parents could use AI to get help in work or ideas of the school work, families could use the Gemini to design their next vacations or individual users could take advantage of AI to teach a new skill, among other things.
The company emphasizes that the addition of Gemini does not mean that you will not be able to do the same things you used to do through the Google Assistant (non-ai) integration. These commands will still work, says Google.
Gemini Rollout on Google TV starts in the TCL QM9K series that is starting today.
Later in the year, Gemini will arrive on Google TV Streamer, Walmart Onn 4K Pro, 2025 Hisense U7, U8 and UX models and 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K and X11K models. More functionality will be added over time.
