Instacart announced on Wednesday that businessman Chris Rogers has been appointed as the new CEO of the company. The appointment is valid on August 15th. Rogers will also participate in the Instacart Board of Directors.
The announcement comes a few weeks after Instacart CEO Fidji simo He shared that he was resigning to join OPENAI as CEO of apps. Simo will remain chairman of the Board of Directors on Instacart.
In his role as head of business, Rogers overtook the relationships and extensions of Instacart retailers, advertising sales and R&D, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, Instacart Business and Instacart Health.
Rogers joined Instacart in 2019 after nearly 11 years in Apple, where he was Managing Director of Apple Canada. He began his career at Procter & Gamble, where he led relationships with Canada’s largest national retailers, says Instacart.
“Instacart sits at the center of the way people shop, eat and take care of their families – and that was always the one that inspires me the most for our mission,” Rogers told a one press release. “Together with our partners, we transform the future of grocery stores, but most importantly, we help people solve real, daily needs.
To one blogRogers said Instacart’s vision would remain the same under his leadership and that the company would continue to focus on its “steadfast commitment to the development of the pie for retailers and trademarks”. He also said that Instacart would work to provide more flexible profit opportunities for buyers on his platform.
In a letter to employees, Simo said Rogers had played a critical role in shaping Instacart and that he would continue to work with him in the coming months to allow a smooth transition.
“We chose Chris because the company needs a leader who deeply understands all our partners, has a huge business experience and can mobilize groups around our vision,” Simo wrote. “Chris knows this company, helped to shape it and I know that Chris would move our mission forward with conviction, care and ambition, I could not be more excited to enter the role of CEO and lead the next phase of development.”
