A wider leadership turmoil in Hyundai Supernal’s electric air taxi is ongoing just a few weeks after its work on the vehicle and CEO and CTO left -wing program, TechCrunch has learned.
Supernal strategy leader Jaeyong Song and Security Chief Tracy Lamb are no longer with the company, the start on Friday confirmed. Lina Yang, the head of the staff at the recent Supernal departure, Jaiwon Shin, is also outside. (Yang had previously served as “Head of Smart Systems” of Supernal until April 2025.)
“As they go to a new leadership, we have exploited the strategic revision of program progress and the next steps to ensure alignment with our long -term goals,” the start -up in TechCrunch.
Supernal stated that owner Hyundai Motor Group “remains strongly committed to her AAM [advanced air mobility] business.”
The departure of the song is particularly remarkable as it has spent three years serving as Vice President of the Hyundai AAM Group before taking on the role of head of the Supernal strategy in 2023 (the Supernal Executive from AAM in 2021). The song did not immediately respond to a request for comments. Lamb refused to comment.
It was a difficult time for the supernal. This launch ended in 2024 with a sudden clearing in its new central office in Washington, DC, as TechCrunch previously mentioned. While Supernal finally took off its first trial flight in March, that fired dozens of workers just a few months later. In early September, the start started an executive shake-up and stopped the air taxi program.
This happens at a critical moment for the hatched electric vertical take -off and landing. Some players ensure investment and new partnerships before scheduled commercial launches (all while the regulatory system is becoming more and more favorable in the US), while others are leaving the business.
