Openai explores ways for users to log in to third -party applications using their Chatgpt account, the company noted in a web page Published on Tuesday. Openai measures the interest of developers who may want to integrate this service into their applications.
Chatgpt quickly becomes one of the largest consumer applications in the world, now with about 600 million monthly active users. To benefit from this popularity, Openai seems willing to try to expand to other consumer areas, such as online purchases, social mediaand personal devices. A possible “connected to chatgpt” feature could help OpenAI compete with other huge consumer technology companies-such as Apple, Google and Microsoft-helping people with a wide range of electronic services, including a quick way to connect to third-party applications.
Earlier this month, Openai started one Preview of “Login to ChatGPT” Experience for Developers at Codex Cli, AI’s AI Codification tool for terminals. The feature lets developers connect ChatGpt for free, plus or pro accounts to their API accounts. Openai offered plus users $ 5 in API credits to connect to Chatgpt and PRO $ 50 users in API credits.
Openai seems to be interested in incorporating the connection service with a wide range of companies. The developer’s interest form asks companies to determine the basis of their application users, ranging from tiny companies with less than 1,000 weekly users in huge applications with over 100 million weekly users. The form also asks developers how they charge AI features today and if they are API OpenAI customers.
Managing Director Sam Altman noted in 2023 That the company can consider a “connection to Openai” in 2024.
Openai did not immediately respond to TechCrunch’s request for comments.
