The flow of Giant Plex urges its customers to change their passwords after revealing a data breach of one of the databases of its users.

Said the company In a post On Monday that he was aware of a security incident involving the theft of Plex Customer Account information, including user names, email addresses, passwords codes, and uninformed authentication data.

Plex said that while the passwords had been mixed in a manner that made them indistinct to humans, it is unclear if the passwords can be decrypted or if stolen authentication data could be used to access customer accounts.

The company stated that customers should change passwords with Plex’s visit Password reset form. Plex also asks users to be withdrawn from connected devices.

While it is common for organizations facing user data violations-even if these data is coded-to force passwords to prevent malicious access to customer accounts, it is not clear why Plex has chosen not to follow this approach.

Plex has said nothing else about the breach, although he said the company “addressed the method that this third one was using to access the system”. Plex did not clarify further details or what may be the risks to its customers.

When he arrived by e -mail, Plex spokesman Jessica Finn did not provide answers to TechCrunch from the press time. In a later email, Finn gave a statement that repeated the company’s post but would not answer specific questions about the incident.

Plex would also not say, when asked, what a specific fragmentation algorithm used by the company to fight customer passwords. Spruming algorithms can vary depending on strength and efficiency and some weaker algorithms can be broken to decrypt the coded data.

The company didn’t say how many customers are affected. Plex has about 25 million users around the world, According to his website. It is also not known when the violation occurred or how long hackers had access when Plex discovered the breach or if the incident is limited to Plex systems.

Plex has not yet described the nature of Cyberettack or if the company has received any hacker announcement, such as whether it has become a ransom demand.
