Hims & Hers, Telehealth and Wellness, has hired a veteran of the autonomous vehicle industry as the next head of technology. The move, according to co -founder and Managing Director of Hims & Hers Andrew Dudum, was deliberate.

Hims and her own on Thursday said the next CTO would be Mo Elsenawy, the former president and CTT of the Cruise Self-Driving Company. Elsenawy abandoned the cruise earlier this year following the extent of the parent company GM.

The jump from AVS to health may seem unlikely, but Dudum told TechCrunch that he deliberately turned to the autonomous driving sector to find a CTO that would help his company accelerate the agenda of the product based on the AI.

“I was looking for leaders a lot in the autonomous driving area, explicitly because you are talking about the utilization of technology and data and AI in an extremely sensitive environment where you endanger people’s lives,” Dudum said in an interview.

Elsenawy, who holds more than 10 patents in AI, robotics and autonomous vehicles, told Techcrunch that the traffic “is not as big jumping as it may seem”.

“Self-guiding cars use AI to make real-time decisions in complex, high stakes and largely regulated environments, where the acquisition of confidence is all,” he told an email at TechCrunch. “Healthcare operates under the same conditions. You are dealing with people’s lives, limited resources and stress systems.

Hims & Hiss It is a telecommunications company based in San Francisco, published in 2021 through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company. Founded in 2017, Hims and their own focused on men’s health, selling erectile dysfunction drugs and hair loss treatments. The following year, she extended to women’s health and added her “own” to the company sign. The immediate consumption company, which connects customers to healthcare professionals, has recently added mental health and weight loss to its portfolio.

The company’s ambitions are reflected in its recent hires. Earlier this week, the company said the former Amazon Nader Kabbani executive will be its next day Business leader.

Dudum sees AI as the technology that will help the company evolve and ultimately serve more people. Hims & Hers treats between 10,000 and 15,000 patients a day, according to Dudum. Anonymous information from millions of patients – statistics such as clinical visits, prescribed medicines and if these medicines work – have been collected in a huge set of data. This data is now used to create AI models that will eventually be used to help diagnose and treat patients.

Two years ago, the company trains a model from its data set to create MonumentA tool that helps doctors constitute mental health -related treatments. Dudum said that all AI -based tools still have a man in the loop, specifically for a doctor or other health professionals.

“There is a very strict and structured approach when it comes to clinical decision tools within the medical industry, so providers are ultimately regulatory, still necessary to do all these clinical crises and decisions,” Dudum said. He noted that the AI products of the company are there to make knowledge and help providers more effective and accurate.

Dudum said the company AI also shows that doctors and professionals in the health sector came to its conclusions during the recommendations. “The appearance of the project and reality by providing the kind of frame behind the scenes in terms of what drives and what weights lead the exits, I think they are in fact, in many ways, just as valuable as the real composition,” he said.
