YouTube removes the trending page and trending now in favor of experts for the category, the company announced on Thursday. With this change, YouTube is removed from the single, built -in list of content that now shows just the most popular content in specific categories YouTube charts.
The platform states that the update is better aligned in the way the content of the content was discovered today, noting that when the page launched in 2015 was much simpler to capture viral video that everyone was talking about with a unique list.
New charts specifically for the class include Technical music videos; Weekly top podcast impressions; Trending Movie Trailers. YouTube plans to add more content categories in the future.
“Along with the labeling of popular content in diagrams. We will continue to show viewers the videos we believe will love through personalized recommendations,” the company explains to a blog. “In this way, we can show a wider range of popular content that is relevant and feels more natural about how viewers already find new videos.”
Viewers can browse non-protected content through the Explore menu, Creator Channels and their subscriptions.
YouTube says it makes the change because trends are shaped by many different videos created by different ghosts, leading to more micro-stretches than ever.
In addition, YouTube notes that viewers find trends through various places throughout the platform, including recommendations, search and comments. In the past, people will discover the content they will watch to watch the trending tab, but now they are fed content through personalized algorithmic recommendations. These shifts have led to reduced visits to the trending page, especially in the last five years, YouTube says.
It makes sense for the company to adapt to the evolving spectators’ habits, especially because the platform has been transformed quite a bit over the last decade. Back in 2015, YouTube was mainly regarded as a place for amateur videos. Today, it hosts professional content of a long -form (and brief form) by independent creators and established media, everyone competes for a share of advertising revenue.
The company says it still focuses on providing creators to determine what is popular in their audience.
“The YouTube Studio inspiration tab will continue to give creators personalized ideas to help them locate the next big thing about their channel,” youtube writes in the blog post. “We also create new ways to give creators and help them discover as we are.”Advertising campaign“Feature that allows viewers to enhance fresh videos they love.”
YouTube will also shout the creators to rise to the official social media of @youtube and YouTube channel.
The changes announced on Thursday will come into force in the next two weeks.
