Instagram Threads is close to attracting Top Competitor X in terms of mobile app users, according to new data from the market intelligence provider Similar. In June 2025, the Threads mobile application for iOS and Android saw 115.1 million daily active users, representing 127.8% annually. X reached 132 million daily active, as the increase in the year decreased by 15.2%.
In comparison, the Decentralized Social Network Bluesky has increased a large 372.5% annual basis since June, but the world daily active user remains a fairly small figure: just 4.1 million daily active users from June, according to company estimates. (Overall, Bluesky has over 37 million registered users at the moment, his own data shows.)
Bluesky had benefited very late last year after the US presidential election, as users left X in protest of its owner, Elon Musk, became closely linked to President Trump. This initial increase began to slow down previously this year. More recently, Bluesky was at the end of a series of complaints that it had been too much from an echo chamber that could have pushed some users back into yarn.
While Bluesky still has long -term potential because of the way its infrastructure allows for a more open form of social networking, the current race is now between yarn and X.
Overall, new mobile data suggests that the threads could become a more important competitor for X in the whole iOS and Android, possibly eating more than advertising dollars, which is the only META revenue strategy on issues at the moment.
However, this competition is only the neck and neck on mobile devices, as X has an advantage in the tissue.
PlayWeb has found that world -wide daily X -online visits are far ahead of the yarn, with the first seeing 145.8 million daily daily visits worldwide in June 2025, compared to just 6.9 million.

Here, the yarns are only a little in front of the average daily Bluesky web visits.
For Bluesky, the number probably means that casual users visit its site to read posts, but may or may not have been hired enough to download its mobile application. Meta’s yarns have more focused on mobile app since the first day, as it began before application of tissue and sees more traction.
In the US market, things look a little different.
Bluesky saw 2.4 million average daily internet visits in June from US users, higher than 985,200 threads. Of course, X was still what will win, with 33.1 million average daily internet visits to the US
At Mobile, it was a closer competition between yarn and X, with the post-social network to see 15.3 million daily US users on iOS and Android compared to 22.9 million for X. (Bluesky had a much smaller appearance, with just 1.1 million daily.

Bluesky’s long -term potential, meanwhile, may have less relationship with the overdons of new users who are complaining about another network policies and more to investing in a wider open social ecosystem. Those who go to Bluesky simply because it is not x may not remain in the application if they do not respond immediately to their needs and may return to X or move to yarn.
Those who go to Bluesky because of the technology that is the building may be more likely to stay to see what it is able to create over time.
Officially, threads have 350 million monthly active users, according to Meta’s latest profit report. X, a private company, is no longer obliged to publicly share the measurements. Musk last year claimed that x has 600 million However, monthly active users.
