LeapA new technology that adds a critical element to the open social fabric, launches to the public on Monday. The Cross-Procol migration tool offers a service that allows users to open social networks such as Bluesky and Mastodon to move the graphs that follow between their accounts, even though networks are based on different underlying protocols.
Today, Mastodon users unhappy with service can choose Move their account on a different Mastodon server while the bluesky is Technology development This allows users to transfer their account to a new PDS (Bluesky’s term for “Server Personal Data”) to its network. However, Mastodon runs on the ActivityPub protocol and Bluesky in the AT protocol, which limits the ability to immigrate accounts to the two platforms so far.
To work, bounce uses the technology that was first developed for BridgeA tool connecting Mastodon and Bluesky by making users’ profiles to a service visible on the other.
To move the accounts, the bounce first moves the user’s account to a bridged account that crosses the two networks and then to the user’s Mastodon account. This migration also supports Pixelfed, a social application that also looks like Instagram that also works on ActivityPub, such as Mastodon.
When launching, bounce can carry users from Bluesky to Mastodon or Pixelfed, but not the other way around. This is due to the fact that the infrastructure of Bluesky today allows users to remove their servers, but do not allow back movements. When this changes, the bounce will begin migration in the opposite direction.
In addition, the first adopters should be aware that once they move their account from Bluesky, they will not be able to use their bluesky credentials to re -connect to the application or other protocol -based services.
It was developed by a non -profit organization called New Social, which is also the bridgy fed manufacturer, the bounce launch is especially timely for Bluesky users in Mississippi. On Friday, Bluesky announced that it would prevent its service in the state rather than compliance with a law to ensure the young age it considers too invasive in terms of privacy and this would require many resources to manage the small Bluesky team. This has left Bluesky users in the state without access to the social network, stressing the need for tools that would allow users to receive their accounts elsewhere.

The Bounce Beta is available on Monday and is aimed at early adopted and open enthusiastic tissue that are willing to try the service and provide comments. While the service is open to the public, users will have to become familiar with the immigration process before they are committed to moving their bills, as it is not yet possible to return to Bluesky after they retire.
