The latest acquisition of AMD could help reduce Nvidia market domination when it comes to AI material.

Giant AMD announced Wednesday obtained a Software optimization boot Deep. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

BRIUM is a boot that seems to be in a state of secrecy. Start creates mechanical learning applications to activate the AI conclusion, the process used by a trained AI model to draw conclusions from new data, in various material options, according to a blog post BRIUM’s naked bone website.

By cutting a little bit of this phraseology, the BRIUM can help upgrade the AI software to work with different AI material than it could be designed for initially.

In a press release, AMD said that the acquisition of Brium would help its commitment to “build high performance, open the AI software ecosystem that authorizes developers and drives innovation”.

While AMD says this acquisition helps to create a more open AI ecosystem, which is not wrong, it seems clear that it is intended to help AMD overcome one of its largest barricades: a large proportion of AI software is designed for NVIDIA hardware and brands.

The only Brium blog post, which came out in November 2024, talked about Nvidia’s dependence on the industry and called AMD specifically.

“In recent years, the hardware industry has taken steps towards providing sustainable alternatives to the Nvidia material for the server’s conclusions,” the blog post said. “Solutions such as AMD’s instincts offer powerful performance features, but it remains a challenge to exploit performance in practice, as the workload is typically coordinated with GPU Nvidia. [model] Conclusions in a series of architectural material. ”

This is AMD’s fourth strategic acquisition for the last two years, with the aim of promoting an AI open source ecosystem, according to the press release. The company he had previously acquired Silo ai (In July 2024), Nod.Ai (October 2023), and Mascology (August 2023).

TechCrunch has arrived at AMD for more information.
