AMD has signed a multi -year supply agreement with Openai that could create tens of billions of revenue for the chipmaker, helping to accelerate its momentum in the AI industry.

AMD has agreed to supply 6 Gigawatts Computational capacity in Openai – enough to supply up to 4.5 million homes – In many generations of GPU instincts, starting with the GPU of the Instinct Mi450. Openai will receive the first Gigawatt capacity in the second half of 2026, when the new chip is scheduled for growth.

AMD claims that the MI450 series will overcome NVIDIA (NVIDIA RUBIN CPX) comparable offers through hardware and software enhancements, many of which will be made with Openai inflows. Current GPUS MI355X and MI300X, currently used in a workload for OpenAi, are already strong for AI conclusions in large linguistic models due to high memory capacity and bandwidth.

Under the agreement, AMD has given Openai the option to buy up to 160 million shares of AMD’s stock, which is 10%. The first tranche will bring the initial growth of 1 gigawatt and additional doses will be seduced as Openai buys up to 6 gigawatts, AMD said.

Openai’s share will be directly linked to the increase in the milestone of AMD’s stock prices, with the final registration of Tranche when the stock reaches $ 600 per share. For the framework, AMD shares closed at $ 164.67 on Friday, but started on Monday at $ 222.24, almost 35% after the new deal.

The deal comes as Openai it works to ensure as many chip partnerships as possible in its race to create AI infrastructure, including five new Stargate data centers with a planned 7 gigawatts capacity.

“We are excited to work with Openai to deliver AI Compute on a massive scale,” said Dr. Lisa Su, president and CEO of AMD, in a statement. “This collaboration brings together the best of AMD and Openai to create a real win-win that allows the world’s most ambitious AI Buildout and promoting the whole AI ecosystem.”

Last month, Nvidia agreed to invest up to $ 100 billion in Openai and supply AI with at least 10 gigawatts. Openai and Broadcom also signed a $ 10 billion agreement to develop and build custom AI chips. And Openai said the Stargate initiative with Oracle and Softbank would expand.

Last week, Openai hit the agreements with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix to promote DRAM memory brands for Stargate project and build South Korea.
