Apple on Tuesday announced a new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, both powered by the latest brandsas well as a new family of monitors. The latter includes a new $1,599 Studio Display and a $3,299 Studio Display XDR.

The new 27-inch screens have better cameras and improved connectivity.

Both displays feature a 12MP Center Stage camera, which the company says offers improved image quality. There’s also support for Desk View, a feature that shows your face and an aerial view of your desk at the same time.

Studio Display’s 5K Retina display has over 14 million pixels, 600 nits of brightness and supports the P3 wide-gamut color standard that covers a wider range of the visible color spectrum than standards like sRGB.

The displays feature Thunderbolt 5 ports so they can be attached to accessories and used to connect up to four displays (Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable included). There’s also a three-microphone array and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio. Apple says the new sound system delivers 30% deeper bass than the previous generation.

The top-of-the-line Studio Display XDR features a Retina XDR 5K display (5120 x 2880 resolution) featuring mini-LED backlighting and more than 2,000 local dimming zones. It can reach up to 1000 nits of SDR brightness and 2000 nits of peak HDR brightness and has a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. It also supports the Adobe RGB color standard.

The monitor has a 120Hz refresh rate, supports Adaptive Sync, and comes with DICOM medical imaging presets and a medical imaging calibrator, making it usable in medical settings. Apple says the Medical Imaging Calibrator on macOS is pending FDA approval and is expected to be available in the US soon

While the Studio monitor stand is tilt-adjustable, the XDR monitor also lets you adjust the height.

Both are available with either standard or nano-coated glass options, Apple notes.

Pre-orders start on March 4th and screens will be available from March 11th.
