Fluffy announced On Tuesday that it stopped Serbia to use its technology on allegations that the police and intelligence of Serbia used Cellebrite’s technology to unlock the phones of a journalist and an activist and then Spyware plants.
In December 2024, Amnesty International published a report accusing the Serbian police of using Cellegite criminology tools to draw the cell phones of a local journalist and an activist. As soon as they unlock their phones, the Serbian authorities then installed an Android spyware, which Amnesty called Novispyto continue to allow the two.
In a statementCellebrite said that “after a review of the allegations arising from the Amnesty International Exhibition of December 2024, Cellebrite took precise measures to investigate any claim in accordance with ethics and integrity policies. We found it appropriate to stop using our products.”

Cellegite did not name the client in this statement. However, in December, when he initially responded to the Amnesty report, the company said it was aware of the “findings of non -profit use on the use of surveillance technologies against civil society in Serbia”.
Cellegite Victor Cooper’s spokesman refused to comment when TechCrunch asked whether it was a permanent or temporary suspension and if there is something the customer can do to restore.
“The withdrawal of licenses from customers who abuse equipment for political reasons is a crucial first step,” said Donncha ó Cearbhaill, head of the Amnesty International Laboratory, said in a statement. “Now, the Serbian authorities must urgently carry out their own detailed and impartial investigations, hold those responsible to take into account corrective measures to victims and create adequate safeguards to prevent future abuse.”
