Chatgpt became the most applied world in March

Chatgpt became the most downloaded to the world in March, with the exception of games, covering the usual candidates for number 1, Instagram and Tiktok. This is the first time the application has surpassed the monthly reception charts and the biggest month of ChatGPT never. According to new data, Chatgpt facilities increased by 28% from February to March to reach 46 million new shots during March, Competence Recently reported.

This put the application slightly in front of Instagram, which fell to the position no. 2. Tiktok followed at No. 3.

Perhaps helping to drive the facilities, Chatgpt saw some notable upgrades in March, including the first high upgrade in the capabilities of icons in more than a year. This led to a viral moment for Chatgpt in late March and early April, as users discovered that they could create images and mimics in the style of Ghibli studio, the popular Japanese cartoon studio behind films such as “My Neighbor Totoro” and “Spirited”.

Openai also removed some safeguards around the March content policies in March and upgraded Chatgpt’s AI Voice characteristic.

Appfigures noted that ChatGPT facilities have increased by 148% annually when comparing the first quarter of 2021 to Q1 2025.

However, the business assumes that the new features were not the main guide behind the development of this month for the popular chatbot.

“He begins to feel that chatgpt is becoming a verb, such as how Google did in the 2000s, to the point where many do not believe that” AI “but rather” chatgpt “, said Founder and CEO of Appfigures Ariel Michaeli.” Deepseek – many who do not swim in this issue come for AI but really download the chatgpt. “

Due to the recognition of the Chatgpt brand, it can be more difficult for other AI chatbots to take off. This is partly because Anthropic’s Claude has poorer on this front than chatgpt. It is also the reason why Grok could do better than other Chatgpt opponents – not necessarily because it is better, but because it has a famous one to market it with Elon Musk and a large distribution platform with X.

Instagram, meanwhile, had previously held number 2 in both Apple App Store and Google Play in both January and February this year, while Tiktok remained No. 1.

To some extent, the development of Tiktok’s reception earlier this year is due to concerns about a possible US ban, as consumers rushed to download the application if it disappeared from applications. Now, this ban is waiting, as President Trump aims to reduce a deal with China, based on Tiktok Parent Bytedance, to maintain the application available to US users.

Before that, Instagram had regularly won Tiktok for the first place in all applications, since it was the No. 1 (non-game) application throughout 2024.

For example, a New survey of US adolescents Piper Sandler released this week found that Instagram is the most used social application, with a monthly use of 87%, compared to 79% for Tiktok and 72% for Snapchat.

In March, other social applications, including those from Meta, rounded up the top charts, with Facebook and Whatsapp completing the top five and others, such as capcut, Telegram, Snapchat and Meta’s Threads at the top 10, along with Temu.

In total, top 10 applications were taken in collective 339 million times in March, higher than February 299 million.
