Doordash customers in Los Angeles could soon bring them their food from one of Robotics’ side -side bots. The two companies announced on Thursday a long -standing partnership that would see them using autonomous robots to make deliveries to all US

The connection comes a week after Dot Dot’s revelation, a stand -alone food delivery bot made by the company that has been first developed in the Phoenix area. Unlike the SERV bots, which operate mainly on sidewalks, the DOT can carry food and small packs on roads, bike strips and sidewalks at speeds of up to 20 miles per hour.

Serve is the last one in a series of emerging technology collaborations for Doordash, which has joined hands with companies such as COCO BOT PLANTER and start wing. According to Ashu Rege, a VP of Autonomy at Doordash Labs, the company’s robotics and automation section is all part of a wider plan to become a platform for multimodal traditions.

Doordash is not the first application company to fly such avenues. Uber has impressive partnerships with autonomous vehicle companies in all businesses on the route, tradition and goods and service is one of these companies. Similar to how the GIG workers operate, the Serve bots will work together with Uber and Doordash.

But Doordash does something different here: he throws his own hat on the ring.

Other companies have also attempted this strategy. Uber and Lyft have tried and failed to operate both the stack of technology and the platform for an autonomous route. And the start of Av Nuro started with a similar vehicle with the DOT before realizing that construction is a capital tank.

All three companies took the picturesque route to realize that it is more cost -effective to focus on basic technology and their offers.

Rege believes Doordash will be different. The company plans to build the DOT on a scale, but Rege declined to provide specific details. Doordash had his first Profits year 2024and reported logs In the first half of 2025, thanks to an increase of 20% of delivery volumes compared to the previous year. Argues that the company necessary More ways to make deliveries if it is going to continue to serve its growing customer base.

In addition, Rege believes that Dot brings something to the table that other factors in the form do not. “We thought there was a gap, from one end. You have a robot and on the other side, which are excellent to move people, but do not face the problem of delivery of the last 10 feet,” he said. “A burrito is not going to walk on your door. And for traders, they don’t want […] Go find this robot that parks half a square away. ”

While sidewalks can work well in dense urban environments, Rege said the Dot would fill the gap in “dense suburban traditions” at a distance of a row of three to five miles. DOT’s ability to cross the roads and The sidewalks are “a really basic piece”, he said.

Of course, a person can do all this with ease, but Doordash says he plans to maintain his human workforce for a more “complex” restaurant, retail or grocery trips.
