Elon Musk confirmed during the weekend’s reports that Tesla dissolves the team working on the DOJO AI Training Traininger, just a few weeks after announcing It is expected to have the second cluster of Tesla to operate “on a scale” in 2026.

“As soon as it became clear that all the trails were shocked to AI6. I had to close the dojo and make some tough staff choices, as Dojo 2 was now an evolutionary impasse” Musk posted on xIts social media platform on Sunday. “Dojo 3 undoubtedly lives in the form of a large number AI6 [systems-on-a-chip] on a boat. ”

After bringing the life of the first DOJO supercomputist and supplying it with a mixture of Nvidia GPU and D1 inner chips, Tesla had planned to build a second Dojo factory-referring to Musk as “Dojo 2”-which would supply a chip D2.

It seems that the D2 Chip is removed with the wider Dojo project, as Tesla shifts its focus on the AI5 and AI6 chips, manufactured by TSMC and Samsung, respectively. The AI5 chip is mainly designed for the FSD power supply, the Tesla driver help system, while the AI6 is designed both for conclusions-which means, promises to dominate self-leading cars and autonomous potential in humanoid robots-and large-scale AI training.

“It makes no sense for Tesla to divide her resources and escalate two pretty different designs chip ai”, musk posted Late on Friday night. “The Tesla AI5, the AI6 and the next brands will be excellent for conclusions and at least good enough for training. All the effort is focused on it.”

He added that for a cluster of supercomputers, it is more reasonable to place “a lot of AI5/AI6 chips on a boat, either for conclusions or for training, simply to reduce the complexity and cost of wiring network wiring with few size”.

“Someone could call this dojo 3, I guess,” he said.

Musk talked about Dojo since 2019, reiterating that Dojo would be a cornerstone of Tesla’s mission to achieve complete self-guidance and commercialization of humanoid robots. The debate on Dojo stopped around August 2024, when Musk started dealing with the bark, instead, a “giant new AI supercluster training built on Tesla HQ in Austin to resolve the real world AI”.

It is not clear if the bark is still in the works. TechCrunch arrived at Tesla to find out more, and ask about the fate of the Dojo Tesla facility had invested $ 500 million to build the New York Buffalo.

The shift of the strategy comes at a time when Tesla is facing EV sales and significant brand damage after Musk’s invasions into politics. Musk worked to convince investors that Tesla still has a future in autonomy, despite the slow and limited robot launch at Austin last June, which resulted in many reports of vehicles with problematic driving behavior.
