Ai Chip Race’s narrative was for US national security, but obviously these are invoices: Nvidia and AMD have agreed to pay the US government 15% of the revenue made from the sales of Chips AI in China in exchange for selling licenses in these brands, referencedciting anonymous sources.

According to the FT government source, Nvidia will share revenue from the sales of H20 AI chips in China and AMD will share a MI308 Chip sales cut. The government has also begun to issue licenses for the sale of the two companies’ chips, the report said.

Trump’s administration in April had limited the sales of some high performance AI chips in China, but stopped banning a few months later when Nvidia promising To achieve up to $ 500 billion in the state’s data center. Subsequently, in July, the company said it would continue the sales of H20 AI chips in China, which it had designed specifically for sale in the country following the restrictions of Biden’s administration.

“We are following the rules composed by the US government for our participation in global markets,” a NVIDIA spokesman said in an online statement. “While we have not been sent H20 to China for months, we hope that export control rules will let America compete in China and around the world.”

According to US Commerce Minister Howard Lutnick, the change of Nvidia is of course related to China transactions on rare land elements necessary for the construction of components, such as rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles.

The administration’s decision to approve the sale of NVIDIA chips has its critics: National Security Experts and former government officials I wrote For Lutnick last month, urging the government to reverse the course.

Note: This story was informed to add a Nvidia statement.
