A Faraday Future Electric SUV fell on fire at the Los Angeles Los Angeles headquarters early Sunday morning, leading to an explosion that broke part of a wall, the Fire Service told TechCrunch.

The fire was extinguished in 40 minutes and no injuries were reported. The damage to the building-a smaller two-storey structure next to the largest part of the headquarters (depicted above)-was severe enough for the city’s construction and security section, which means that structural work may be needed before it could be occupied again.

“We know a fire in our unit yesterday, there were no injuries to FF staff and no evacuation is needed and the specific cause and origin of the fire is under investigation,” writes John Schilling, Faraday Future Communications Director, in an email at Techcrunch.

The fire comes at a difficult time for Faraday Future, because its ongoing presence at home – which he has occupied for a decade – is uncertain.

The start, which has been fighting for years for years, Sold the headquarters in 2019 to create cash And he has leased it since. Today’s Rexford Industrial owner sued Faraday Future in February 2024 in an attempt to expel the start for late payments. The two sides eventually settled in April 2024. At the time of settlement, the lease is expected to end at the end of September 2025.

Schilling, when asked, said he was not sure of the current situation of Faraday Future’s lease. The property, including the main building and the one where the fire happened, is Advertised as available for lease by Commercy Real Estate Compan CBRE. CBRE and Rexford representatives did not respond immediately to comments.

The fire reported for the first time in the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) at 4:37 am. Local Time on September 28th. LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey told TechCrunch that call 911 came from an eyewitness. The sprayers in the building helped keep fire under control until the Fire Service arrived. An explosion created a great swelling on at least one of the walls, according to a photo seen by TechCrunch.

As soon as they arrived, the firefighters had to force the entrance to fight the flames, Humphrey said. The fire was completely extinguished at 5:17 am

This cause and the origin of the FF91 SUV fire has not yet been set, Humphrey said, noting that the Fire Department researchers were not identified “human agents”. The SUV FF91 is exposed to office space.

After the fire was extinguished, an inspector from the Los Angeles Building and Security Department evaluated the structure and defined it inappropriate for possession.

Faraday Future first unveiled the SUV FF91 in 2017. At that time it was charged as an electric vehicle-luxury electric vehicle with industry. But the company ran into recurring financial crises and began to build only the The first few production SUVs in 2023.

Since then, the company has delivered a few more than twelve FF91s to celebrities and high -value people, although Faraday Future has been accused by employees’ complaints to mislead these sales.

The company now promotes a more affordable electric truck that seems to import from China and also tries to turn a one encrypted business. Earlier this year, the Securities and Exchange Commission sent the so -called “Wells Warnings” to Faraday Future and its founder Jia Yueting, among other things, an indication that the financial regulator is preparing to file a lawsuit against the company after a three -year investigation.
