For The First Time, Openai Models Are Available On Aws

Sam Altman’s Blowtorch is so hot to its competitors, it even includes a new partnership with Amazon Web services.

As Openai announced two open -minded rational models with capabilities in the same level in order O, Amazon announced That new models would be available at AWS on Tuesday. This is the first time OpenAi models will be offered by AWS, the company has confirmed to TechCrunch. They will be available as a model option with Amazon AI Services Bedrock and Sagemaker AI.

While anyone can download the models through Face Hugging, Amazon offers these models with full knowledge and approval of Openai, such as Dmitry Pimenov, the model of the model manufacturer, which is mentioned in the announcement. A representative described the offer as similar to how Amazon offered an open Deepseek-R1 model earlier this year.

This is a juicy competitive move for both companies. For AWS, it finally sets the cloud giant in the same proposal as the largest model manufacturer, Openai.

Until now, AWS is best known as an important host and a financial supporter of Anthropic’s Claude, one of Openai’s biggest competitors. AWS offers Claude, along with other models from manufacturers such as Cohere, Deepseek, Meta and Mistral, as well as its own home services at AI services. Specifically, Bedrock allows AWS customers to manufacture and host AI genetic applications using their choice models. Sagemaker, on the other hand, allows AWS customers to train, or even build, their own AI models largely for analysis uses.

While AWS’s final opponent, Microsoft, had no Openai models lock since January, Azure is still the most important part of the OpenAI Cloud to date. Openai has also announced that Microsoft is offering versions of these two new models, optimized for Windows devices.

Microsoft monitoring wins an increasing amount of cloud business with Openai has been public pain in the neck of Amazon Andy Jassy’s CEO. Just last week during Amazon’s quarterly callJassy was hit by questions by Wall Street analysts about how the company lost ground at AI for competitors, especially Microsoft.

For example, JPMorgan Doug Anmuth analyst asked Jassy to explain “significantly faster clouds between the two and the three players in the field”, referring to Microsoft and Google. Later, Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Nowak told Jassy that Wall Street believes that “AWS is falling back to Genai with concerns about stock loss, peers, etc.”

Jassy responded with a minute -long dissertation that included this Barb on Redmond: “I think the second player is about 65% of the size of AWS.”

Meanwhile, another AWS competitor, Oracle, said he had signed a $ 30 billion deal with Openai to offer data center services. This means that Openai plans to pay more Oracle each year than to all other cloud customers in combination. Until now, AWS had been left out of any glory associated with Openai.

As for how such a move with the benefits of AWS OPENAI: The AI provider’s relationship with Microsoft is well known, as the two report their long -term cooperation agreement. What better way for Openai to strengthen its position than warming up the largest cloud provider, even if initially on a small scale?

In addition, this partnership allows AWS Enterprise customers to experiment easily by using Openai models with the hosted AI applications.

Meanwhile, Altman gets to degrade Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg with this move. As Openai releases these two high -end models with Apache 2.0 open source license, Meta recently admitted that it would probably not continue to open all the upcoming “Superintelligence” models.
