Google was announced on Monday that the Gemini app now offers its personalized photo creation feature with Nano Banana to a wider audience. Starting today, all eligible users in the US can access the feature for free, a service previously only available to Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers.
Google first announced that Gemini’s Personal Intelligence feature would gain image creation with Nano Banana in April, allowing users to create images that reflect their unique interests. This means images can be created based on Gemini’s understanding of your likes and dislikes without you having to specify them in your prompt. Gemini uses data from your Google account connections — such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search — to accomplish this.
For example, instead of saying, “Create a picture of me and my favorite things, like coffee and baking,” you could simply ask, “Create an illustration of me and my favorite things.”
Gemini can also pull your actual images from Google Photos, so you don’t have to upload photos manually.
Google first rolled out the Personal Intelligence feature earlier this year, making it widely available to all US users in March. The company recently extended this feature to users in India and Japan.
Personal Intelligence is an optional feature that lets you decide which apps Gemini can access. Once enabled, it’s set as the default for every question, but you can disable it using a new toggle in the Tools menu.
Additionally, last month Google announced several upcoming updates to the Gemini app, including a new “Daily Brief” feature, a revamped interface, access to the Gemini Omni AI video model, and a personal AI agent named Gemini Spark.
Notably, Google’s AI chatbot Gemini surpassed 750 million monthly active users (MAU) earlier this year, cementing its position as a major player in the AI space.
