GM works with Nvidia to bring AI to robot, factories and self-guiding cars

General Motors turns to Nvidia to help bring AI to the natural world to an expanded collaboration aimed at Angelica every aspect of the automotive business, including factories, robots and self-guiding cars.

Nvidia’s founder and chief executive Jensen Huang, who announced Tuesday of the corporate relationship during Keynote at the company’s GTC conference in San Jose, said the time had arrived for autonomous vehicles.

“We look forward to building with GM AI in all three areas,” he told the stage. “AI for construction so that they can revolutionize the way they build, AI for the business, so that they can revolutionize the way they work to design cars and simulate cars, and then AI for the car.”

The deal means that Nvidia will provide AI infrastructure – essentially GPU – for GM and will help the automotive industry create its own AI, according to Huang.

Nvidia has a decades -long relationship with the car industry and a stand -alone vehicle, providing GPUs to companies such as Tesla, Wayve and Waymo for use in databases or their vehicles. Nvidia has also developed an autonomous automotive vehicle platform that includes a operating system called Driveos to provide real -time AI treatment and integration of advanced driving and cockpit features. Toyota announced earlier this year plans to equip next generation vehicles with automated driving capabilities powered by the NVIDIA AGX Orin Supercomputer Supercomputer and the Driveos operating system.

“We work with the car industry, but the car industry would like to work with them,” Huang said during Keynote. “We build all three computers: the training computer, the simulation computer and the robotics computer (the car’s self-guiding computer)-all the software stack sitting above it, the models and algorithms just as we do with all the other industries I have proven.”

GM plans to work with Nvidia to build custom AI systems using many of the technology products. GM did not reveal the financial value of the agreement.

GM will use Nvidia Omniverse with Cosmos to train AI construction models to help create next -generation factories and robotics. Using Omniverse, GM will be able to create a digital twin of its plants – and even assembly lines – to try essentially new production processes without disturbing existing vehicles. The effort will include the preparation of Robotics platforms GM already uses functions such as handling and transporting materials and precision welding.

The automaker will also use the Nvidia Drive AGX for the vehicle’s material for future advanced driver-health systems and enhanced safety experiences. The automotive industry recently stopped funding the Roboto Commercial Development Company on an axis that has shifted the resources to the advanced driver-hypovo-support system known as Super Cruise. GM is in the process of absorbing the cars’ self-guiding cruise and its combination with its own efforts to develop characteristics for the driver-and ultimately fully autonomous personal vehicles.

GM’s relationship with Nvidia is not new. The Detroit -based automaker used NVIDIA GPUS to train AI models for simulation and validation. The extensive agreement now includes the use of Nvidia AI products to focus on improving the design and functions of the automotive industry.
