The US Food Delivery Giant, Grubhub, says hackers have access to customer and drivers’ personal information after breach of their internal systems.

GrubHub is a popular food order and delivery platform with more than 375,000 traders and 200,000 delivery providers using its platform in more than 4,000 US cities. The New York-based Wonder Group acquired the company last fall in an agreement worth $ 650 million-a fraction of $ 7.3 billion that only eating the takeaway paid in 2020.

On Monday, the Illinois -based company revealed a data breach that affects the personal data of a non -announced number of customers, traders and drivers. Grubhub said he detected “unusual activity” in his network, which was found in a third party service provider.

“After the discovery, we immediately started an investigation, identifying unauthorized access to an account associated with this provider”, Said Grubhub in a statement. “We immediately installed the account access and removed the service provider from our systems completely.”

He said the penetration allowed anonymous hackers to access the personal information of customers, traders and drivers interacting with the customer service. The breach also influenced the users of the GrubHub campus dining service, which allows students to use their meal credits in the application of food delivery.

According to Grubhub, access to access includes names, email addresses, phone numbers and part -time information – including the last four digits of card number – for a “subset” Campus Diners. The hacker also has access to passwords for some old -fashioned systems per GrubHub, but added that bank account details and social security numbers were not affected by the violation.

In addition to not revealing how many people have been influenced by the violation, Grubhub has not confirmed when the incident happened.

The company did not immediately answer TechCrunch questions.
