Instagram takes over Snapchat with new “Map” Instagram “

Instagram Takes Over Snapchat With New "map" Instagram "

Instagram releases Instagram Map, a new feature that allows users to share their latest active location with others and to discover location -based content. The post-proprietary social network also starts reposts and makes the “friends” tab in roles available worldwide.

With its new map feature, Instagram copies yet another popular feature from Snapchat, as it clone the functionality of the basic application stories in 2016. Instagram comes for Snap Map’s Crown, a feature that recently exceeded 400 million monthly active users and remains one of its basics.

Instagram notes that location sharing is off by default on the Instagram map and the user’s location is updated only when they open the application, which means that it does not provide real -time location updates. Snap map, on the other hand, allows users to choose whether their location is only updated when they open the application or in real time.

It is worth noting that Instagram offers real -time location sharing via DMS (direct messages). However, unlike Apple’s Find My and Snap Map, which allows you to share your location with others indefinitely, Instagram only allows users to do it up to one hour.

Instagram reports that the new map feature will make it easier for friends to coordinate and connect for hangouts. It also allows users to explore the content based on locations shared or participated by their favorite creators. For example, if your friend attends a nearby music festival and publishes a story while there he will appear on the map. Likewise, if a creator publishes a cylinder about a new restaurant in your city, you will be able to discover it on the Instagram map.

Regardless of whether you choose to share your location, you can use the map to explore location -based content, says Instagram.

The map also allows users to leave short messages or “notes” on the map to see others. Instagram notes are today the short messages that appear at the top of your direct message flow, but with the release of Map Instagram, users can now post these brief updates on the map.

Although Instagram is definitely taking over Snapchat with this new feature, it also has the opportunity to appeal to people who were Zenly fans, an application of social maps acquired and then closed in 2023.

The new characteristic map begins in the United States starting Wednesday, with the wider global availability soon. Users can find Instagram map on top of their inbox DM.

The launch is no surprise, as Instagram was found in the development of the characteristic map last year.

As for the new “Reposts” feature, Instagram takes a page from Tiktok’s book, while creating its own release of the popular “Retweet” function from Twitter (now X).

This feature allows Instagram users to redefine public roles and supply positions. These repetitions may appear on their friends’ flows and will also appear on a new “reposts” tab in their profile. Instagram says the new feature gives users a way to share their interests with others and offers the creators the opportunity to reach a wider audience.

To repeat a cylinder or post, users press the Repost icon. Users can also choose to add a note to the repost by typing the thought bubble displayed on the screen and by pressing the storage.

As for the new “friends” tab in the cylinder, Instagram launched it in the United States earlier this year and makes it available worldwide. The tab allows you to see public wheels that your friends liked, commented, repeated and created.

For users who want to browse and interact with the content privately, Instagram develops the ability to leave the content you have dealt with in Friends.

Users can hide their likes, comments and repetitions from the tab. In addition, they can choose to silence, comment, comment and redefine from specific people who follow.
