For years, recruitment managers have used mechanical learning to find possible recruitment by looking for keywords in resume and LinkedIn profiles. Although this method helps to limit the prospective pool, recruitment managers must still manually check each profile to determine the best job application.

David Paffenholz (depicted left) and Ishan Gupta, then only 22 and 19, respectively, realized that LLMS could find talent faster and more efficiently. Were built CrateA search engine operating with AI using natural language to analyze professional profiles, personal websites and other information available to the public to identify the most specialized candidates.

After watching the Combinator Accelerator in the summer of 2022, Paffenholz and Gupta took a few more years to refine their product. When the AI search engine, Peoplegpt, was ready at the end of 2023, it was quickly adopted by a wide range of customers, by small businesses to large companies such as knowledge, ramp and embarrassment.

In a short period of time, it served more than 2,500 customers and reached over $ 10 million in annual repetitive revenue (ARR).

On Thursday, Juicebox announced that it had raised a total funding of $ 36 million, including a $ 30 million round, led by Sequoia.

Sequoia’s partner, David Cahn, learned about the company, while attracting an early stage starting founder who said he was using JuiceBox for all efforts to hire. Cahn told TechCrunch that the founder has hired more than twelve people without using a professional recruited, which was very difficult to do.

Such a JuiceBox review caused Cahn’s interest. Shortly thereafter, Cahn learned that the Sequoia internal recruitment also tried to help the company help the business with its own efforts, which made him even more excited about the development potential of the start.

When Cahn finally met with Paffenholz and Gupta, he was even more impressed.

“I’m not sure I have ever seen in my career a company with four people who have reached 2,000 customers with this small from a group,” Cahn told TechCrunch.

Although Juicebox has hired eight additional employees since then, the company continues to attract customers without sales team.

Customers flock to JuiceBox in part because the recruitment speed is extremely important for companies fighting for AI functions.

What puts the JuiceBox search engine is its ability to conclude information about candidates like a human being.

“We are helping to find clear new candidates who will not be found elsewhere, because profiles may not have the words -key or kind of things we would expect to have in regular searches,” Paffenholz told Techcrunch.

The starting product is popular not only with small companies that do not have a specialist, but also with groups of talent in large companies. By automating the search for candidates, the tool releases internal recruitment officers to focus more on building relationships with possible recruitment.

Once JuiceBox identifies the candidates, its agent can automatically email them and plan the original calls.

While JuiceBox is rapidly growing, older newly established talent businesses, such as Octfold, also add search functionality with AI to their offers.

Still, Cahn is convinced that Paffenholz and Gupta can convert JuiceBox into a basic product for the technological stack of any start.

“We have invested in several businesses that are being made for newly established businesses, such as Stripe,” he said. “I think Juicebox has the opportunity to be default where, every start. [it’s] The first thing they use to hire their first employees. ”
