Tesla’s first Robotaxi service test in Austin, Texas next month, will first be limited to specific areas that the company considers “safest” an interview Tuesday.

Tesla’s cars “are not going to get intersections unless we are too confident [they’re] Going well with this junction, or will take a route around this junction, “Musk said.” We will be extremely paranoid about development, as they should. It would be silly not to be. ”

The use of a Geofence represents a major strategy for Musk, which spent years, arguing that its company will be able to create a general self-guiding solution that could fall on any location and work without human supervision. (Geofnce is a term of phraseology used in the autonomous vehicle industry which means that the vehicle is limited to a particular area.) Musk has claimed that Tesla will try to start similar tests for the Robotaxi Service in California and possibly other states later this year.

Musk telegraph the idea of using a Geofnce to call Tesla’s first quarter in April, though he did not explicitly say that it was the approach the company would use. The CEO said at that time that it was “more and more likely that there would be a local set of parameters” for the first robot functions.

In the context of Tesla’s “paranoid” approach, Musk said Tuesday that the company would have an employees remotely the original fleet of about 10 SUV models equipped with the “non-supervised” version of the full self-guiding software. Musk also claimed that these vehicles would drive without any security operator inside.

“I think it is prudent for us to start with a small number. To confirm that things are going well and then scale to scale depending on how well we see it doing,” he said.

It is common practice for autonomous vehicle companies, such as Waymo, to have a business center with people who monitor their robbery and provide remote guidance if needed. Waymo, which posted a blog on the subject in 2024But it does not take control of vehicles. Instead, human employees communicate mainly through questions and answers to the self-guiding system to give it the right framework and to help the problem of solving the problem.
