OpenAI partners with Infosys to bring AI tools to more businesses

OpenAI has partnered with Infosys to integrate its AI tools, including the Codex coding assistant, into the Indian IT giant’s Topaz AI platform.

Infosys said the integration will be used to help its customers modernize software development, automate workflows and deploy AI systems at scale, initially focusing on software engineering, legacy modernization and DevOps.

India’s IT services companies are facing increasing pressure from a combination of slowing customer spending and rapid advances in genetic artificial intelligence. Infosys shares have fallen more than 22% this year amid a wider sell-off caused by weak forecasts, investor concerns that artificial intelligence tools could automate parts of traditional outsourcing work and macroeconomic turmoil due to the US-Iran war.

The move also reflects a broader trend of AI companies partnering with global IT service providers to scale their adoption in large enterprises. OpenAI has in the past in collaboration with HCLTechand Infosys has entered into a similar agreement with Anthropic.

OpenAI gains a distribution channel to large enterprises through Infosys’ global customer base and delivery capabilities in more than 60 countries. The companies said the deal aims to help businesses transition from experimentation to large-scale development.

Infosys is ramping up its AI business. The company said earlier this year that AI-related services generated ₹25 billion (about $267 million) in revenue in the December quarter, or about 5.5% of its total.

The deal is part of a broader push by OpenAI to expand its business footprint through initiatives such as Codex Labsannounced Tuesday, which includes engineers working with customers to help develop its tools. Initial partners include Accenture, Capgemini, CGI, Cognizant, Infosys, PwC and Tata Consultancy Services as OpenAI aims to build a distribution network to scale Codex adoption, which now has more than 4 million weekly active users.
