Openai asks Meta to produce items related to any coordinated plans with Elon Musk and Xai to obtain or invest in Chatgpt-Maker.

The request was published in a brief It was registered on Thursday in Elon Musk’s ongoing action against Openai. Lawyers representing Openai said they were closing Meta in June for documents on his dynamic involvement in Musk’s undesirable bid, $ 97 billion to take on the start of February. It is not clear from the deposit if such documents exist. Openai finally refused Musk’s offer.

Openai’s lawyers say they discovered that Musk was contacting Meta Mark Zuckerberg CEO on XAI’s attempt to buy Chatgpt manufacturer, including “on possible funding or investment agreements”.

Meta opposes Openai’s initial summons in July. Chatgpt-Maker lawyers are now seeking a judicial order to receive such evidence. Openai also calls on the court for any of the Meta documents and communications associated with “any actual or possible restructuring or recapitalization of the Openai” – the key issue in Musk’s treatment against Openai.

Meta’s spokesman Andy Stone directs TechCrunch to a part of Openai’s deposit, which states that neither Meta nor Zuckerberg signed Musk’s letter to acquire Chatgpt-Maker.

Meta refused to comment further. Openai and Musk’s legal adviser did not respond immediately to TechCrunch’s request for comments.

In the depths of Openai’s match with Musk, Meta has invested significantly in its own efforts to develop AI Frontier models. In 2023, post-section obsessed for the development of an AI model that could defeat Openai’s GPT-4, revealed court archives in another case. By the beginning of 2025, META’s AI models fell behind the industrial standard, according to information degrading Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg has raised the pressure in recent months, polarizing several of OpenAi’s leading AI researchers, including a co-creator of Chatgpt, Shengjia Zhao, who is now leading to research efforts at the Meta Superintelligence Labs Meta Superintell. Meta also invested $ 14 billion on a AI scale and reportedly approached many other AI laboratories on redemptions.

While it is not clear how far the conversations developed between Musk and Zuckerberg, the simple idea of a collaboration between the two billionaires represents how threat is Openai. Two years ago, Musk said he would naturally fight Zuckerberg in a cage race (never happened).

The rise of AI may have pushed Musk and Zuckerberg to leave their differences.

The briefing it revealed on Thursday is part of a larger lawsuit filed by Musk against Openai facing the issue with the conversion of Openai to the profit -making arm to a public benefit company. Such a conversion is necessary for OpenAI to receive funding from investors and eventually be made public. However, Musk – a co -founder and an early investor at Openai – tried to throw a key to the effort, arguing that restructuring contradicts the founding launch mission.

Lawyers representing Meta have asked the court to reject Openai’s request for evidence, arguing that Musk and Xai can provide any relevant information. Meta also argues that internal discussions about the restructuring and recapitalization of the Openai are not related to the case.

This story has been informed to add more information about the case, as well as the story of the Musk and Zuckerberg relationship.
