PayPal introduces a new way for people to send money with each other through peer payments (P2P) made through personalized, one -off connections. The system, called PayPal Links, complements the existing feature of the company called Paypal Me, which will continue to exist as a way to share your profile details and facilitate finding and payment.

The company explains that PayPal Me links are not payment requests linked to a certain amount – at least until the receiver introduces how much they plan to pay.

Paypal Me Links were only used to be paid. However, new PayPal links allow customers to either request or pay to another person by selecting the connection option by entering the amount and then copying the link to a conversation. This makes the feature more useful for one -off payments or requests directly with another person without having to identify and verify their profile or account details. As a result, there are fewer steps involved, making payments faster.

In addition, PayPal links will soon be able to support Crypto to the US, allowing users to send bitcoin, etherum, pyusd and much more to Paypal, Venmo and other digital wallets that support cryptographics and stablecoins.

The operation will be first available to users in the US, but will later expand this month to other markets, including the United Kingdom, Italy and elsewhere.

To create a PayPal link, users open the PayPal app and introduce the payment details or request to create a unique link. This link is private and linked to this transaction.

These PayPal links can then be used in online conversations, texts and DMS where money, costs and purchases are discussed. Any non -requested links expire after 10 days, although users can send a reminder or cancel the payment link at any time if necessary.

The recipient puts the link to complete the request or accept the payment in the PayPal application, where the funds are transferred immediately.

Personal payments are still exempt from report 1099-K, the company notes.
