As part of Q1 2025 Profit ReleaseSnap said they are dismantling plans for a simplified version of its application.

The news comes seven months after the start of Snapchat to try a redesigned version of the application without Snap Map or Stories. The new version consolidated the navigation bar of the application around three icons: Chat, camera and competitor Tiktok of Snapchat, Spotlight.

Instead of continuing the simplified version, the social network is now going to start experimenting with a “refined five-tab interface” that maintains all existing app tabs and facilitates access to Spotlight.

“In terms of simple Snapchat design, we have learned a lot of redesigning, but eventually found it that it was difficult, especially for power users, people who really love Snapchat in the way he uses the map and stories all the time, to truly adopt the plans of three. Snap Ceo Evan Spiegel said with the investors. “Finally, we get a bunch of lessons from the three tabs of simple Snapchat design and developing five-tab design with these lessons.”

The company says it found that a more important promotion experience and integration of friends’ stories in conversations significantly enhanced the daily viewing of content and overall views of content, especially among more casual users.

“The most dedicated Snapchatters have steadily shown us a preference for a five-Tab layout, favoring familiarization of tile-based content discovery and a dedicated map tab,” Snap told his letter to investors. “They have been informed by these ideas. We have begun to try a refined five-tab interface that combines the best of both approaches: bringing more stories to the messaging experience and adding easier access to the foreground, now placed directly to the right of the camera.”

The reversal comes as a Snap shares that lost 1 million users to North America in the first quarter quarter. Snapchat Daus in North America amounted to 99 million, compared to 100 million in the last quarter and 100 million last year, according to a Snap shareholders’ letter.

The company also saw an increase of more than 55% annually to the number of AI Daily Active Users in the US, as Spiegel is chasing some announcements related to AE later this year.

“As we look at the areas where we really want to differentiate, it’s really around this visual communication,” he said. “And so we see how people interact with my AI by sending snaps and either getting snaps or a response to chat in return. I think it begins to show how these Multimodal models will play a strong role in people’s lives. You have more announcements around it later.”

Snap reported first -quarter revenue of $ 1.36 billion, an increase of 14% on an annual basis. The company says the Uptick is due to the development of the Snapchat+ subscription service and the progress it has made with its advertising solutions.

Snap has also reached a new milestone: More than 900 Maus (monthly active users) worldwide. In addition, the DAUS of the Social Network has increased to 460 million worldwide, an increase of 38 million years on an annual basis.
