Sola Emerges From Stealth With $ 30 Million To Build

Businesses these days can choose from hundreds of applications and services available to secure their networks, data and assets – almost so much more to help them manage all the notifications and additional work created by these security applications. But what if you could create your own applications, tailored to your own workload to simplify the whole game?

This is the condition of a new starting of Israeli called Solewhich has created a low code/non -code platform to allow users to design their own cyberspace applications tailored to their specific needs, including tools to manage applications they may already use. Sola emerges from Stealth today armed with $ 30 million seed funding to hit the ground with the declared goal of “democratizing” how security can be approached and handled.

“We are not trying to be like another next-generation CPSM or ASPM,” said co-founder Guy Flechter, referring to attitude management tools-“or any other acronym you can think about. We want to change the way you think On security. As Stripe did with payments or canvas he did with the design. ”

S Capital (the business founded by the team that started sequoia Israel) and the former long-term Sequoia VC Mike Moritz coincides with the round, with me withS32; Glilot Capital Partnersand anonymous Angel investors involved. (Sola was about a year and some of the details of this round leak, while it was still in the projects and the company had not yet revealed details of its product.)

Sola is the spiritual child of two long -term players in the world of cyber security, whose experience effectively makes the challenge. Flechter is a builder who previously founded LED Security Cider, a specialist in the safety of applications acquired by Palo Alto Networks for $ 300 million in 2022.

As Flechter describes it, these days there are basically two options for resolving security challenges these days.

Option 1 is to buy a very powerful, commercial solution, usually for a price in the six elements. “It’s a very complicated solution, and at the end of the day you probably won’t use everything you’ve paid,” he said.

The choice of two creates solutions that use yourself using open source accessories. “You need a very high level of technical expertise to bring it together,” he said.

Sola’s approach is essentially a swing in creating a new three choice.

Utilizing the latest innovations using AI and Big Data management, the platform is designed for organizations that may not have large security groups and used by those without extensive technical skills.

The SOLA interface that allows users to set goals or ask questions in the natural language and then draw data from different sources, to determine what it aims to monitor, to create a new “application” that operates with the company’s specific assets.

SOLA can be used to search data within the existing security applications used, Flechter said, but it also has built -in security tools into it to replace certain functions. Sola also has “ready” applications for those who do not want to make up their own applications.

The goal is to create more rational security services for organizations, that they will theoretically do exactly what they want and for a fraction of price.

Applications currently in the applications gallery give you an idea of the type of SOLA functionality that can handle it. An AWS network security application, for example, allows the user to “get a high level summary of basic AWS network security measurements, including possible vulnerable points”.

The types of questions that can help answer, as he says, include “which security groups have excessive rules?” “Which network protocols are activated throughout my environment?” “Are there an unprotected open doors that could expose critical services?” And “What is the state of VPC flow records?”

There are dozens of more applications that are pre-written to cover other surroundings of clouds, developers such as Github and large security tools such as Okta and Wiz.

Moritz, in particular, makes his first investment here at a security start in his capacity as a solo investor. He said that what stood out for him was the way the Sola team leans in the greatest trend of building simplified front edges with a more complex project behind the scenes at the back, while playing in technological innovations to make it possible. This is a pattern that has previously seen in areas such as stripe payments, Canva design and many other technology companies now. But his words are also a reminder that all this is still an ongoing project.

“It is clear that Sola is going to benefit from all the progress that is happening with speed breathing in the evolution of AI. This is very evident in its product,” he said in an interview. “If you look at Sola’s interface today compared to the point 18 months ago, it is advanced massively thanks to the improvements and discoveries that have been announced and revealed in the last 18 months.”
