Armed with a new license from the Nevada motor vehicle department, Tesla prepares to start testing the autonomous technology of its vehicles on public roads in the state. The test license, which was first marked From Tesla Influencer Sawyer Merritt, it comes two months after the company’s appearance to take over the vehicle’s autonomous ambitions beyond Austin and in several new markets.

“We are expecting to significantly increase the service area that go beyond what competitors are doing, we hope that in a week or two.” As we receive approvals and prove security, we will start the autonomous ride that we will spend throughout the country, I think we will probably have a long time.

Tesla started giving rides to SUV without a Y Model Y driver at Austin earlier this summer. Robotaxi, which includes a Tesla employee sitting in the passenger seat, started at South Austin. Since then it has been developed to include more than the city.

Entrance to Nevada for Tesla, or any company hoping to test autonomous vehicle technology on public roads, is simple compared to California. Tesla and others must complete a test registry license form, which is then examined and processed by the DMV state. The Regulatory Organization then issues a certificate of compliance for tests along with sets of red license plates for each vehicle listed in the package. Tesla has received this certificate per Merritt.

Nevada DMV representatives confirmed that Tesla submitted the certification of the test register on September 3 and was processed by the OBL Group on Wednesday. DMV spokesman Hailey Foster explained that this means that Tesla is currently cleared to test autonomous vehicles in the state, but are not allowed to develop these vehicles in regular operation as a developed service. “Tesla will still have to complete the self -esteem for the operating process to be able to develop with an entire program, namely Robotaxi,” he wrote in the email.

To comply, the companies AVS tests on public roads It must prove that they maintain a $ 5 million insurance coverage in accordance with the rules of the body. Once the vehicles are on the road, companies must report any traffic incidents at DMV within 10 days.

Nevada has an autonomous regulatory environment -friendly environment and has become an activity of activity for the sector. Motional and Lyft have been tested on public roads in Las Vegas for years and Nuro created one closed piece of test in the state.

But it is zoox, and the cube -like cube, which have become synonymous with Las Vegas. Earlier this week, Zoox announced that it has opened the public romance service to the public, although these rides will be free until the company receives regulatory approval to charge an end.

If Tesla wants to operate a Robota Commercial Company, the company will have to take additional measures, including approval of the Nevada Transport Authority to operate as an autonomous vehicle network company.
