Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang went down to the United Kingdom this week, armed with a promise to invest £ 2 billion ($ 2.6 billion) to overload the country’s AI starting ecosystem. Wayve, self-leading technological start, could be one of those who will receive funds from Nvidia’s investment commitment, the company told TechCrunch.

Wayve said he has signed a letter of intentions with Nvidia to evaluate a $ 500 million strategic investment in the next round of the United Kingdom. Nvidia participated in the C series C in series of Wayve’s $ 1.05 billion dollars that closed in May 2024.

A Wayve spokesman confirmed that the temporary commitment of $ 500 million is part of AI’s NVIDIA investment promise.

Nvidia said during an event on Thursday Commitment of 2 billion £ £ They will include funds from Accel, Air Street Capital, Balderton, Hoxton Ventures and Phoenix Court. A NVIDIA spokesman refused to comment on the letter of announcement.

Wayve Alex Kendall co -founder and chief executive would not provide TechCrunch with a projected closing date for the D. series D. Kendall said the company “worked quickly for it”.

Wayve, launched in 2017, has gained attention and investors for the automated driving system that uses a self-based self-learning approach. The neuronal network from end to end of Wayve does not require high definition maps and only uses data to teach the vehicle how to drive. This data -based learning approach is used to drive “with eyes” and for a fully automated “eyes away” driving system.

The company plans to sell its “built -in AI” into automakers and other technology companies.

Wayve’s self-learning approach, which is similar to the strategy used by Tesla, is considered particularly attractive to automakers because it does not depend on specific sensors or maps. This means that the Wayve system can work with existing sensors such as cameras and radar. Automated driver software records data from these sensors, which immediately update system driving decisions.

And while Wayve software can run on whatever chips of OEM partners already has in their vehicles, the start has had a close development relationship with Nvidia since 2018.

Wayve’s Generation 2 self-guiding platform, which is incorporated into the Ford Mach E test vehicles, uses GPUS Nvidia. This week, the start has revealed Gen 3, a platform that uses the autonomous computer growth kit called Nvidia Drive Agx Thor. Gen 3 will allow Wayve to offer advanced driving systems and level 4 features operating on roads and highways in the city.

Nvidia, and especially Huang, seems to be willing to be part of the future of Wayve.

“The next trillion company, you,” Huang said in a video with his first ride on a vehicle equipped with the road on public roads in London. The video, aired by TechCrunch and is scheduled to be released soon, shows that Huang delivers Kendall Nvidia’s Kendall’s Developer Kit.

“We took him from his hotel and went for a route around Central London through some very busy roads, including the Hyde Park angle – this is this huge roundabout here,” Kendall said in an interview on Friday. “I really liked this experience and it was cool to show him what we always rely on as a result of the Nvidia platform over the years.”
