The Slow Ventures Creator Fund has invested $ 2 million in Jonathan Katz-Moses, a popular wood content creator with about 600,000 fans, about 75 million video views and its own range of carpentry tools.

This marks the first investment for the Slow $ 60 million creators fund from its release in February. The fund seems to help creators start businesses, with the belief that what has made them successful is what can also make them a good founder.

Speaking to TechCrunch, Slow Ventures Billy Parks, a chief investor for the deal, said the role of the creators has changed heavily in the last decade or so, by the creators who focused mainly on the media and the dollars of brand, ”

“The pandemic accelerates the development of immediate consumer for many, but the real signal is to those who have maintained and cultivated this boom in the past, which shows that they can build something constant and sustainable,” Parks said.

He said that a good founder of a creator is thinking as a businessman, “not to chase the reputation, but to build real businesses they own and control”.

This is where Katz-Moses came. His videos help him teach carpentry and has since expanded to sell his own tools and accessories to his audience. It has a team that helps with business development, businesses and of course creating content on YouTube. Slow investment will help support business efforts and other content creations.

Katz-Moses entered carpentry after a violent attack one night in 2010. A video posted on his channel Recently, he talked about the story, saying he woke up to a blood tank surrounded by police and paramedics, forcing his appearance. His injuries were serious: a broken eye reception and the launches needed 80 stitches. He said it was the happiest moment of his life because at least he was alive.

Shortly afterwards, he went to the wood, deciding that it was time to pursue his dreams and leave behind anything unfulfilled. He bought a camera and began publishing his creations on YouTube, gathering a faithful sequence in the process. But as his business and personality grew up, he found himself to face the common challenges faced by the founders, such as the management of stocks for tool businesses and paying the salary.

Katz-Moses was one of the 700 candidates at the Slow Creator Fund and told TechCrunch that he was exciting when the parks arrived to learn more about his business.

“Billy Parks from Slow arrived in me in March to let me know that he would like to meet,” Katz-Moses told TechCrunch.

“When we visited him at the 30,000-square-foot store in Santa Barbara, he was removed from his serious and long-term commitment to the brand and building a scaled business,” Parks told Techcrunch about why the Argos.

Parks said Slow wants to work with the creators early on their travels so he could give them support when he has the greatest impact on their help to grow. (He has already made agreements with some creators, regardless of this fund.)

The Slow Creator Fund is a showcase on how businesses are trying to invest more in the creator’s economy and find ways to work with influences, as these creators become new entrepreneurs. (Other creators examined the increase in business capital to support their careers as well as their peers.)

Parks said that Slow wants to work with creators operating in clearly defined spaces, instead of wide entertainment, they work with those with a community and power in their art. “This combination makes for businesses with strong foundations and durable growth,” Parks continued. It is not in contrast to the way investors are already stealing their founders.

From investment, Katz-Moses has hired product manufacturers, submitted patent applications, examined new products for construction and hoping to share more educational content around carpentry. “The goal is to publish all the big platforms,” he said. “But our primary focus will always be YouTube.”
