While the adoption of blockchain and tokenization of IP (intellectual property) assets is still in its early stages, more creatively in the entertainment industry embrace what is called “Tokenized Storytelling”. This approach allows the fans to participate in the development of stories, the elements that contribute – such as characters and plot – that can be changed and belonging to digital assets.

David S. Goyer – known for “Blade”, “The Dark Knight” Trilogy and “Foundation” – is the latest director and writer of comic books to explore how blockchain can give his followers a voice in creative process while protecting the IP.

Announced on Tuesday, Goyer (depicted above) cooperated with ExercisesA new entertainment platform that uses Blockchain of the storyto start the new franchise sci-fi called “Appearance. ”

The exercises, backed by the A16Z Crypto, aims to give the IP holders a platform to protect their work and deal with their audience. The company was founded by Chase Rosenblatt (CEO) and Spencer Marell (COO), two technology entrepreneurs who believe that traditional IP development is incorrect and overlooking new and growing creative.

“I was excited about the idea of using the wider community and token for these ideas,” Goyer told TechCrunch. “What is beautiful for these platforms is that if you create something, no matter what it is, whether it is a plan, a short story, a t -shirt. It watches your creation in all the following media and creates a watermark. If you will offset you forever. “

Starting today, everyone is now welcome to work together, the first IP that will make its debut on the Contentress platform. This includes writers who want to create their own narratives, vision artists for characters or landscapes and musicians who wish to contribute to the soundtrack.

As soon as an idea created by the community receives several votes and approved, it becomes part of the Canon official. The fans are rewarded with ownership, giving them a share of the success of the story.

Goyer revealed to us details of the appearance, which focuses around a white hole known as a “white fountain” that launches thousands of mysterious relics throughout the galaxy with incredible power. Like his previous works, the new Goyer universe is carefully designed and rich with complex details and unique characters, but also offers plenty of space for creative exploration.

Goyer and a team of award -winning writers also created a “world Bible” or guide describing the themes, characters and evolving plotlines of history. For example, it describes in detail the various types of relics (micro -economic and large relics) and introduces the various types of life forms, including advanced people known as “The Kind”.

Some characters have also been exhausted, including the captain Skadi (presented in the picture below), who, as a child, touched a macroeconomic and inadvertently turned his whole world into glass, including her parents and brothers. There is also Darius, a service worker traveling to the galaxy and witnesses “a lot of strange shit”, as Goyer puts it.

Beyond what is contained in the World Bible, much of the story remains untold. Goyer deliberately leaves many questions unanswered about the universe, including the nature of the relics and their origin.

In addition, the Crection has created an AI agent called “Atlas” to help appearance partners create ideas and answer questions about the world or specific characters to ensure accuracy. Atlas can also create videos and images.

In the future, Goyer said that followers would have the opportunity to vote for some aspects of history, such as the fate of a character (whether they live or die) and the introduction of new characters into the universe. There will also be a leaderboard for tracking points as well as the ability to invite and work with others on the platform.

The ability of users who are able to generate revenue from the content remains unclear. The company refused to comment.

Although exercises can show exciting opportunities for fans to be deeper involved with authors of sci-fi such as Goyer, it is still too early to find out if others are on board. Many creators prefer to maintain their IP direct control and are generally resistant to adopting new technologies such as blockchain and AI.

Goyer observed: “If anything else, [Incention] It is going to reduce the barrier and allow people who may not have a way to break and make some money and get some recognition early … I hope that based on my history, which will create a lot of initial interest. “
