WWDC 2025 began on Monday and as in previous years, the company focused on software updates and new technologies, including the next version of iOS, called iOS 26.

This year, there has been significant pressure on the company to take advantage of its promises and modify developers as it lags on AI and facing continuing legal challenges against the App Store.

IOS 26 is the most dramatic design change in over a decade

When Apple introduced a major review on iOS in 2013 with the launch of iOS 7, it felt jarring for many users with the shift from previous Skeuomorphic design with the slopes and textures of the real world to the most colorful but flat design style that reflected Apple’s head design for the minimalism.

At WWDC 2025, the company announced a refreshed user interface called the Liquid Glass, which has a glittering, reflex and transparent visual interface elements that give the software a more “glossy” look and feel.

The liquid glass screen is translucent and will behave like glass in the real world. The color of the screen is updated by your content and will be adapted between light and dark environment. In addition, notifications are displayed from which you press, the environment menus extend to a list of scanning when you move and press.

The lock screen and the home screen receive updates that are aligned with the overall aesthetics of the liquid glass.

iOS 26, a new name plan

Instead of using system names such as iOS 19 and MacOS 19, Apple will now use the year as part of the name. This means that all its operating systems will be called iOS 26, iPados 26, MacOS 26, TVOS 26, Watchos 26 and Visionos 26.

A special game application

Apple has unveiled a new special gambling application designed to gather gambling experiences on Apple devices. The application will serve as a game of games and allow users to watch achievements and see leaderboards.

The games app will also include social features, including a “Play Together” tab that allows you to see what your friends are playing, compare the results and invite them to play with you. There are also “challenges”, which is a new way to compete with friends in a scoring -based match.

Macos, iPados, Watchos, Visionos and Tvos updates

Apple showed Watchos 26, the upcoming Apple Watch software review. It will start with a redesigned interface based on Apple’s new Liquid Liquid System, a fruit gesture, a new Fitness Buddy Fitness feature powered by Apple Intelligence and much more.

Apple TV also gets a redesign, with a wet glass aesthetic that offers an elegant and “discreet” plan, the company said. One of the standout features is the ability to quickly go to a user profile. Apple TV will now present a profile options every time it wakes up from sleep, making it more convenient for every family member to choose their profile and continue to watch their own favorite shows and movies quickly. There is also a karaoke feature.

MacOS 26, which the company calls Tahoe, is getting some upgrades, in addition to the new aesthetic of liquid glass, will include a AI shortcut application.

The iPad OS will make the iPad feel like a Mac, including a new preview capability that gives users a series of tools, including marking using apple pencil and automatic. Users can also export images to different forms.

Updates on Carplay and Airpods, too

While leaks suggested more gestures and other additions, Apple announced that the Airpods series would get two basic features: the quality of the quality sound and the remote camera. It also gets a camera remote control.

Three of the largest additions to Carplay will be widgets and live activities, as well as the ability to choose a “tapback” answer in incoming messages. Users will also be able to give their favorite conversations, as well as to Imessage.

Apple wallet, polls, maps and many more

Other smaller features were also announced, as well as new -friendly travel features for Apple’s wallet. Polls in IMESSAGES. Verses Translation and pronunciation features. And the maps will learn your move.

This story was first published on June 5 and was significantly informed with all the announcements by WWDC 2025 on June 9th.
