The boring company, the Elon Musk tunnel dismantling and the Tennessee Governor Bill Lee have announced A plan for the construction of a 10 -mile “loop” that will connect the center of Nashville and its conference center to the area’s airport.

The project will be privately funded by the boring company “and its private partners”, according to the Governor’s press release, although these partners have not been named. The boring company and local officials will now launch a “public process for the evaluation of possible routes, take over community stakeholders and complete the plans for the initial 10 -mile phase of the project”.

The construction will not start until the project cleans the approval process. But the governor’s office said the first section of the loop could act as “early in 2026.”

If this happens, Nashville will become the second city where the boring company opened such a system, with the first being Las Vegas. The company has spent in recent years in Sin City by digging and opening tunnels around the Las Vegas conference center and claims to have given 3 million walks to Teslas to date.

Musk started the boring company in early 2017 (after publicly noodling for the idea on Twitter while being stuck in traffic in late 2016) and has since taken many forms.

The original video describing the idea of Musk-now set to private on YouTube-has shown that vehicles are removed from the Surface Street Gridlock from a lift system-trained and reduced to a three-dimensional underground tunnel network. Musk also claimed during the first Trump administration that the boring company had received “oral approval from the government” to dig tunnels from New York to Washington, that, using Hyperloop technology, he could make the journey in just 29 minutes.

None of them ever happened. The boring company abandoned plans to dig an important tunnel system from below The largest area of Los Angeles After the push of the locals. A Similar thing happened in Chicago. And the boring company has essentially ghost many other cities across the country.

The idea of Hyperloop, which Musk admitted to the biographer Ashlee Vance came from his hatred for California’s high -speed rail system, was also expelled. Even the Teslas who crosses the Las Vegas tunnels are driven by humans, despite Musk’s obsession with self-guiding cars.

Instead, the boring company now looks more like a glorious movement of the people of the Conference Center, although there are some possible benefits to approach it in relation to the standard mono -economic regulation. Construction should be less annoying for Nasville’s daily circulation. And, at least in its current form, it doesn’t cost taxpayers’ money.

While the Tennessee Governor’s office reports the boring company’s security archive in Las Vegas in the announcement-the loop “recently won 99.57%security and security effort” by the Ministry of Interior Security and Transport Security Administration, according to the release of the type-to-be release. (The ruler’s office could not be approached for comments.)

As with other Musk companies, the pace at which the boring company operates – the same speed that the Tennessee’s office praised in its announcement – is a concern for some of its employees.

Last year, Fortune’s Jessica Mathews referenced That a boring company employee told his manager then Security: “I have watched my friends injured due to the fast pace we have run … I refuse to be the first death in the history of this company.

The same security manager even spoke with luck in the archive, saying: “The conditions they were told to work were almost unbearable … I could not correct any of the things that were wrong.”
