Israeli manufacturer Spyware Solutions has confirmed to TechCrunch that it is selling its products to the US government and other non -defined allied countries.

Paragon executive President John Fleming said in a techcrunch statement on Tuesday that “Paragon allows its technology to a selected group of world democracies – mainly the United States and its allies”.

Fleming also stated that Paragon “requires all users to agree on terms and conditions that explicitly prohibit the illegal targeting of journalists and other elements of civil society. We have a policy of zero tolerance for this target and we will end our relationship with Any customer who violates the terms of service.

These comments come after Whatsapp claimed on Friday that Paragon’s spyware was used in a hacking campaign aimed at about 90 journalists and other civil society members. Since then, at least two people have come forward claiming to be among the goals: Italian journalist Francesco Cancellato, and Libya based in Sweden Husam El Gomiti.

Fleming did not answer a number of specific questions, including the demand for more details on who he considers that the agent is a US and the Republic ally. What exactly the terms of the service say about the prohibition of targeting journalists and members of civil society with its spyware. Either the company can and is investigating allegations of abuse, such as those done by WhatsApp. If the company is investigating WhatsApp’s allegations. And if Paragon has ever terminated a contract because of such violations.

While El Gomati lives in Sweden and is Libya, he have criticized the A relationship between the Italian and the Libyan government, especially their cooperation to prevent Libyan immigrants from crossing the Mediterranean Sea and reaching the European country.

Ynetnews referenced Monday that Italy is a Paragon customer. But there has been no other confirmation of this claim so far.

Fleming did not respond when asked if Italy was a Paragon customer and the Italian government did not respond to a request for TechCrunch comments.
