Pinterest CEO Bill Ready told the company’s investors second quarter earnings Call that the social application and the inspirational bookmark website could be regarded as a “AI market assistant”. However, he believes that the representative of the Agentic Web, where AI agents are shopping on behalf of users, is still very much in the future.

The observations were made in response to a question about Agentic web, which could affect searching and businesses such as Pinterest, which is placed in the early stages of shopping trip – around the time when users are looking for ideas that could later convert to markets.

Investors are likely to worry that if AI began to understand the interests of users, they could preventive users shopping from their own personalized recommendations instead of using platforms such as Pinterest.

“I think this concept of an agent who goes and buys all things for you without doing anything …” said the ready to call the Q2 profits. “I think it’s going to be a very, very long circle to play, so in terms of the way users think about it, where users will be ready to let something escape and do everything for them, except for some very useful trips,” he noted.

Still, he pushed Pinterest to be regarded as AI shopping assistant, saying that the company is not talking about this way, usually because it is not the way users think about it.

“But when users say things like” Pinterest just take me “are because they can open the application and the application are going to make recommendations to them preventively to things that are really interested, aligned with their taste and style, the way they would be a very big personal assistant.”

The company refers to the moment, when businesses are exploring all ways to create new experiences based on AI as a “Cambrian Moment” and touched the various ways it had already worked on at AI. This included recommendations and personalization systems with AI, the use of AI proprietary models (including multimodal AI that combines text and images), visual search experiences, conversation search and effective advertising yields.

The increasing concerns of the user were not addressed that too much from Pinterest is now full of low quality AI content. The situation became so bad that Pinterest earlier this year had to launch a new set of tools to combat this invasion, such as the AI -generated images and checks and controls for users filtering AI genetic spikes. The discussion also failed to report the bans of mass users, which users believe they come from excessive dependence on AI moderation systems. (Pinterest would not say if that was the case, only put them in an internal error.

In the call, he also talked about how Pinterest aims to compete in the war for AI’s talent, saying that people who want to work there are interested in the AI used for good and used “responsibly”.

“On the part of the mission, I think really, really punch over our weight,” the exec explained. “Both in terms of what we do with AI’s coordination for positivity, creating a more positive alternative to what is happening in other social media,” he said.

Pinterest stock decreased after profits, as the company reported sales pace, with $ 998 million, but profits per share at 33 cents (adjusted) fell from the expected 35 cents. The company also noted that more than half of its monthly users was Gen Z and male users increased by 95% annually.
