Tesla’s attempt to raise the term “Robotaxi” in relation to his vehicles has been rejected by the US Patent and Trademark Office to be overly general, according to a new deposition. Tesla applied For brands in October 2024 on the same day that he revealed Cybercab, the electric car made from the purpose of hoping to use one day in the scheduled autonomous service to drive. Tesla also submitted two similar brand applications on October 10 for the term “Robobus”, which are still being considered.

The brand rejected was assigned to a USPTO examiner on April 14. Tesla said he would use the word in reference to “[l]and vehicles of electric vehicles, that is, cars. Cars? and structural parts for this ”, according to the original application.

While the USPto examiner found that there were no conflicting trademarks, he refused the application because it was “just descriptive”. The examiner wrote that the term “Robotaxi” “is used to describe similar goods and services from other companies”.

This application was also entrusted to a USTO examiner on April 14, but no decision has been filed.
